Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience focused on medium- and high-voltage power system design. The role requires PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months and involves design, calculations, and preparation of construction packages up to 200 kV.

Travel occasionally for client meetings and field reviews; collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff to deliver high-quality renewable energy projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting with a focus on medium- and high-voltage power system design.
• Experience preparing electrical construction drawings, specifications, submittal reviews, and providing construction administration for power projects.
• Graduate degree, professional registrations, or publication experience preferred; General Contractor License is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
• Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for electrical systems up to 200 kV.
• Perform QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical support to field personnel for HV collection systems and substations.
• Conduct electrical studies including short-circuit, arc flash, load flow and relay coordination.
• Collaborate with civil/structural engineers and coordinate with multiple offices.
• Conduct feasibility and interconnection studies; prepare utility master plan reports.
• Participate in project management tasks and mentor staff.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings and site reviews; extend hours as needed.
