Job summary

Hanson is seeking an Electrical Engineer with a focus on medium- and high-voltage power systems to design and deliver HV distribution for renewable energy projects. You will prepare construction packages, perform system studies, and coordinate across offices and disciplines.

You will mentor junior engineers and support project management activities, with occasional travel and extended hours to meet deadlines. A PE license or six-month timeline is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
• PE licensure or ability to obtain within six months.
• Minimum 5 years experience in consulting focused on medium- and high-voltage power system design.

Responsibilities

• Design medium- and high-voltage power distribution and management systems for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, EV charging, microgrids).
• Prepare specifications, calculations, drawings, and full construction packages for 15kV–200kV systems.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
• Provide technical support to field personnel for HV collection systems and substations up to 200kV.
• Perform electrical studies (short-circuit, arc flash, load flow, power factor, relay coordination, ampacity).
• Collaborate with civil/structural teams and coordinate with multiple offices.
• Participate in due diligence, feasibility, and interconnection studies; prepare utility master plans.
• Assist in project management tasks and mentor Power Market team members.
• Travel occasionally for client meetings and site reviews.
