Caterpillar Inc. in the United States is seeking a qualified engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of generator control switchgear systems.

You will deliver automation and control solutions for complex power systems, working both independently and with teams from concept through commissioning. This role requires hands-on design, programming, testing, and field support across retrofit and new projects, with travel up to 50% and DoD SkillBridge eligibility.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with automation and controls: PLC, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
• Minimum 2 years related experience with degree, or 4 years of equivalent experience without a degree.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background, drug, and medical requirements.

Aufgaben

• Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator paralleling control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
• Perform technical risk assessment and support field performance of assigned projects.
• Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams, including escalation support.
• Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses in a timely manner.
• Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance, troubleshooting, and system operation as needed.
