Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an electrical engineering professional to join the Electric Power Division. You will deliver automation and control solutions for generator switchgear systems, leading design, programming, testing, and commissioning activities from concepts to field deployment.

The role requires collaboration with engineers, contractors, and end users, with remote-based work and 35-50% travel. A BSEE or BSEET (or equivalent) is preferred, and a strong customer-focused approach is

Qualifications

Experience with automation and controls; PLC-based systems, HMIs, and distributed control systems.
Reading electrical schematics and blueprints is required.
Travel up to 35-50% and remote-based work are supported.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities, define project scope, and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
Execute design, programming, testing, and commissioning of generator paralleling control systems.
Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
