Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking an Electrical Power Division engineer to join our team and help deliver automation and control solutions for generator switchgear systems from concept through commissioning.

The role focuses on retrofit and new project work, design, programming, testing, and field support, collaborating with dealers, factories, and internal teams. Expect 35–50% travel and eligibility for DoD SkillBridge.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience with automation and controls, including PLC-based systems and HMIs.
Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.

Responsibilities

Identify retrofit opportunities, define scope, and support proposals with Dealer/Factory teams.
Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage paralleling control systems.
Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
Produce wiring and assembly drawings with CAD designers.
Perform technical risk assessments and support field performance.
Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams.
Submit project documentation, reports, and expenses on time.
Train and support technicians, customers, and internal teams on maintenance and operation.
