Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Marlborough is seeking a Registration Specialist to support patient intake, data entry, and insurance verification. You will ensure accurate demographic and insurance information in the registration system and help coordinate services for patients.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-2 years of data entry experience.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must have computer skills that include use of Windows and the ability to navigate.
• Strong customer service skills both verbal and written; with a variety of internal and external customers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a high volume, team-oriented environment.
• English speaking, reading and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately captures demographic, insurance and other related patient information in the system. Ensures signatures on HIPAA, Consent to Treat, etc.
• Obtains and verifies insurance coverage and follows insurers' guidelines for pre-authorization and referrals.
• Obtains and verifies workers' compensation and auto coverage when required.
• Schedules radiology, lab, and basic ancillary service appointments.
• Sets up Emergency Department and Labor & Delivery demographic and insurance data.
• Coordinates delivery of multiple services to patients.
• Collects patient liabilities, including deductibles and copays, before or on the day of service.
• Performs Surgical Day admissions and bed control tasks.
• Maintains accurate and timely records and monitors billing queues.
