Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Marlborough, MA is seeking an on-site Patient Access Registrar to support the registration process. You will handle demographic and insurance data entry, verify coverage and authorizations, and coordinate services across departments with careful attention to detail.

The role requires accurate data entry, strong customer service, and knowledge of medical terminology. Training includes a 8-week onboarding with potential signing bonus discussed during interview.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of data entry experience required.
• Proficient data-entry skills with attention to detail.
• Must navigate Windows OS and basic software.
• Strong customer service, verbal and written.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Accurately obtain and enter demographic, insurance and related patient information into the registration system; collect signatures on HIPAA and consent forms.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and ensure pre-authorization and referrals are in place before visits.
• Verify workman’s compensation and auto coverage when required.
• Schedule radiology, lab and ancillary service appointments.
• Complete ED and Labor & Delivery demographic and insurance collection.
• Coordinate provision of multiple services to patients.
• Collect patient liabilities (deductibles, copays, balances) prior to or at service.
• Perform Surgical Day admissions and bed transfers/admissions.
• Provide patients with information about preparation for procedures and services.
• Assess financial needs and refer to financial counseling as needed.
• Maintain records, upload documents, and handle clerical tasks as required.
