Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to obtain accurate medication histories for new ED patients and to document information into the Electronic Health Record for pharmacist and physician review. The role may include inpatient technician duties as needed and requires strong communication with patients, families, and care teams.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, CPhT certification, and two years of technician experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (CPhT) certification required.
• Current NJ Board of Pharmacy Registration or acquire the registration within 6 months of employment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts detailed interviews with patients and/or caregivers/family members to compile an accurate list of current home medications.
• Prompts patient/family for additional medications including OTC items.
• Contacts outpatient pharmacies and provider to verify regimens and investigate discrepancies.
• Obtains allergy history and severity for any medication or substance.
• Utilizes electronic databases and EMR to review medication history and record in EHR.
