Job summary

Capital Health in New Jersey is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to obtain medication histories for new ED patients, documenting in the EHR for pharmacist review and supporting inpatient technician duties when needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalency, CPhT certification, and current NJ pharmacy registration within 6 months. Two years of technician experience and PTCB history certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interviews and documentation.
• Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing volumes.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with EHR systems.

Responsibilities

• Conducts detailed interviews with patients/family to compile current home meds (name, dose, route, frequency, indication).
• Prompts for OTC medications and herbals to ensure complete med history.
• Contacts outpatient pharmacies and providers to verify regimens and resolve discrepancies.
• Obtains allergy history and reaction details for meds/substances.
• Records medication and allergy data into EHR for pharmacist review.
• Precepts technicians and students on home med interviews and documentation.
