Job summary

The State of West Virginia is seeking a trainee to learn the methods of processing benefit applications under close supervision. You will determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers while learning to use department software to manage a demanding caseload.

You will conduct client interviews, analyze financial and social information, and comply with complex eligibility policies.

Qualifications

• Under supervision, learn to process benefit applications and determine eligibility.
• Two years of direct client service or related work may be substituted by coursework.
• Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position.
• A valid driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Process benefit applications for SNAP, Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP and School Clothing Vouchers.
• Learn to use department software to manage a caseload.
