Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Electrical Engineer for our Philadelphia, PA office, with a Summer 2027 start. You will assist in projects across utility, industrial, and commercial sectors, contributing to design, development, and construction documentation.

Under supervision, you will work on substation layouts, grounding, and protection schemes, with opportunities to grow in Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, and CAPE tools while ensuring safety and quality standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • 0-1 year of post-education experience.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of electrical engineering in large capital projects.
  • Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes and regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with basic technical writing and common software/tools.
  • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, Aspen, and CAPE.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with data collection and analysis for substation components and procurement.
  • Support single line and three-line diagrams, bus layouts, grounding, and protection considerations.
  • Provide entry-level engineering support for sizing, cabling, and electrical designs.
  • Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction procedures.
  • Develop electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, and lighting controls.
  • Create clear documentation using electronic systems and field notes.
  • Follow safety guidelines and site procedures; participate in trainings.
  • Complete assigned tasks and adhere to company Code of Conduct.
  • Contribute to additional responsibilities as needed by project requirements.
