Job summary

Goodwill of Greater Washington is seeking a donation attendant to welcome donors and assist with unloading and sorting donations. This active outdoor role requires friendliness, safety, and a focus on customer service throughout the donation area.

You will greet donors, record donations, lift up to 50 pounds, operate manual or power equipment as needed, and maintain a clean, organized space. Prior retail or warehouse experience is helpful, and teamwork is encouraged.

Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic instruction in English for safety purposes and communication with management.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally with associates and customers.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, standing, lifting and climbing for prolonged periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external guests.
• Creates a welcoming atmosphere by greeting donors and safely unloading donations from vehicles.
• Accurately record donations.
• Ability to independently lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely operate manual and or power equipment (depending on location).
• Responsible for keeping donation area clean and free of debris.
• Completes donor receipts and offers the donor a copy.
• Sorts donated items into designated categories.
• Follows prescribed safety and security practices including reporting safety, security hazards and injuries to the General Manager, Store Manager, or Assistant Manager.
• Maintains a clean, neat uniform and appearance.
• Assists truck and driver helper load/unload donations into company vehicles.
• Performs general housekeeping duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as directed.
