Dock Operations Supervisor – LTL & Safety Leader

Job summary

Estes Express Lines is seeking a Operations Supervisor in Indianapolis to lead dock teams and ensure a safe, efficient LTL operation. You will drive KPI performance, schedule optimization, and equipment coordination while upholding company policies and safety standards.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work 50 hours per week, including nights or weekends. Prior dock/dispatch experience in LTL is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Understanding of LTL trucking and paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience in LTL trucking.
• Knowledge of the local metro area.
• Strong leadership: hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring, termination.
• Team-building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication.
• Excellent planning and organization.
• Proficiency in AS/400 and MS Office preferred.
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
• Willing to work ~50 hours/week.
• Able to work any shift, nights/weekends and in various weather.
• Able to lift 20 lbs+ as needed.
• Comply with company policies and code of conduct.
• Interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Capable of meeting deadlines in high-volume env.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
• Pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct dock employees to set targets, monitor performance and develop staff.
• Enforce compliance with company policies, safety rules and regulations.
• Involved in hiring and termination decisions.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan.
• Meet all KPI targets assigned.
• Utilize company tools and processes to improve operations.
• Review and revise schedules to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
• Manage equipment assignment and movement with other supervisors.
• Communicate with customers by phone, fax or email.
• Oversee dock paperwork to ensure timely, accurate handling.
• Maintain regular attendance.
