Job summary

Estes Express in Memphis, TN seeks an experienced Dock Operations Supervisor to lead dock staff, manage KPI performance, and ensure a safe, efficient LTL operation. You will monitor schedules, coordinate with Transportation and Operations, and drive continuous improvement in dock planning and cost reduction.

Responsibilities include coaching and developing team members, handling hiring/termination decisions, and maintaining prompt customer communications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the LTL trucking industry and basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch and dock experience required, preferably in LTL trucking.
• Must be knowledgeable of local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership skills including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and terminating employees.
• Team building and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
• Excellent planning and organization skills.
• Proficient computer skills (AS/400 & MS Office a plus).
• Must be able to work 50 hours/week on average, including some nights/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide and direct dock employees; set targets and monitor performance.
• Ensure efficient, clean and safe LTL operation; dock planning and scheduling.
• Enforce company policies, safety rules, and regulations.
• Involved in hiring and termination processes.
• Administer portions of the Service Center Business plan as directed.
• Meet all KPI targets and utilize enhancement tools.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiency and reduce cost.
• Oversee equipment assignment and movement with other supervisors/management.
• Communicate with customers by phone, fax or email; ensure timely paperwork handling.
• Attend regularly as required; perform other duties as assigned.
