Cengage is seeking a Director of Web Experience Design to shape the vision and strategy for our web ecosystem, guiding a design team to deliver modern experiences that help customers discover, learn, and engage with our products.

You will lead experimentation, optimize ecommerce, and ensure accessibility while mentoring talent and collaborating with product, marketing, analytics, and engineering to drive measurable business impact.

Qualifications

Senior Web Experience Design role with 3+ years of people management.
Experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization, or other transactional digital experiences.
Deep expertise in UX and UI design principles, accessibility, responsive design, and modern digital design processes.
Exceptional collaboration and communication skills to influence senior leaders and align cross-functional teams.
Portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience and UX/UI strategy.
Lead and mentor designers to raise craft and impact.
Partner with Product, Marketing, Analytics, and Engineering to develop hypotheses and run tests.
Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences across the customer journey.
Design across acquisition, exploration, consideration, purchase, onboarding and engagement.
Use data to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements.
Foster a culture of continuous optimization with measurement and learning.
Stay ahead of evolving web practices including AI-enabled experiences and accessibility.
Develop outstanding talent and leadership within the team.
