Job summary

Cengage is seeking a Director of Web Experience Design to shape the vision and design strategy for its web ecosystem, leading a design team to deliver modern experiences that connect customers with our products and services.

Lead and mentor designers, drive experimentation and data-informed decisions, and push continuous improvement across discovery, engagement, ecommerce and conversion, while staying ahead of AI-enabled and accessible design trends.

Qualifications

Senior Web Experience Design role with 3+ years of people management.
Experience with ecommerce, growth, conversion optimization, or other transactional digital experiences.
Deep expertise in UX and UI design principles and human-centered design.
Excellent collaboration and communication to influence senior leaders.
A portfolio is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities

Set the vision for Cengage’s web experience, establishing a clear UX/UI strategy.
Make experimentation central to design, partnering to run tests.
Advance ecommerce and conversion experiences to improve performance.
Design across the full customer journey from acquisition to engagement.
Use data to identify opportunities and prioritize improvements.
Build a culture of continuous optimization and iterative redesigns.
Stay ahead of evolving web practices including AI-enabled experiences.
Develop outstanding talent by coaching and mentoring designers.
