Responsibilities

  • Oversee equity data integrity across participant, award, vesting, and transactions.

Altera is seeking a Director of Equity Administration & Compensation to lead the company’s global equity administration and support the design, governance, and execution of equity and compensation programs. This highly visible role will partner closely with Finance, HR, Legal, Payroll, Tax, and senior management to establish scalable processes, strong controls, and an excellent employee experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end administration of Altera’s global equity programs, including partnership/profits interests, RSUs, ESPP, and other equity-based compensation programs, as applicable.
  • Manage equity transactions including grants, vesting, settlements, forfeitures, cancellations, and ESPP employee elections and purchases.
  • Establish scalable equity administration processes, policies, controls, and governance to support the company’s continued growth.
  • Manage the equity administration platform and ensure the accuracy and integrity of participant, award, vesting, ownership, and transaction data.
  • Partner with HR and senior leadership on equity and executive compensation programs, including annual grants, new-hire awards, and other compensation matters.
  • Partner with Legal on equity plan governance, Board and Compensation Committee approvals, equity documentation, and applicable securities requirements.
  • Partner with Finance and Technical Accounting on equity compensation accounting, valuations, disclosures, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with Payroll and Tax on withholding, reporting, employee mobility, and global tax requirements related to equity compensation.
  • Establish strong internal controls and SOX-ready processes over equity administration and related financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with equity platform providers, brokers, transfer agents, valuation specialists, and other external service providers.
  • Develop equity and compensation reporting and analytics for senior management and other key stakeholders.
  • Build and lead the equity administration team and provide education and support to employees participating in equity programs.

Salary Range

The pay range below is for Bay Area California only. Actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including job location, job-related knowledge, skills, experiences, trainings, etc. We also offer incentive opportunities that reward employees based on individual and company performance.

$166.9K - $238.0K USD

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in equity administration, stock plan administration, compensation, or related areas.
  • Significant experience administering complex equity programs in a global organization.
  • Strong knowledge of partnership/profits interests, RSUs, ESPPs, and other equity-based compensation arrangements.
  • Experience with equity administration platforms and related financial reporting processes.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, data integrity, and cross-functional governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively across Finance, HR, Legal, Payroll, and Tax.
  • Strong executive communication, analytical, and project management skills.
Preferred Experience
  • Public company, IPO, pre-IPO, private equity-backed, or newly public company experience.
  • Experience with E*TRADE Equity Edge Online or similar equity administration platforms.
  • Experience administering ESPPs and global equity programs across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience with partnership or profits interest programs in a private equity-backed environment.
  • Familiarity with equity compensation accounting, including ASC 718.
  • Experience supporting executive compensation and Compensation Committee processes.
  • CEP certification preferred.
  • Experience building or significantly transforming an equity administration function.
