Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking a skilled Diesel Engine Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks in our Engine Shop. You will mentor apprentices, lead projects, and grow your career within a team that values craftsmanship and safety.

Responsibilities include diagnosing engines, performing rebuilds, documenting findings, and ensuring repairs meet OEM standards. Strong problem-solving and communication are essential in this environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3–5+ years diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
• Valid driver’s license; CDL a plus.
• ASE certifications are a plus.
• Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and diagnostic software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
