Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician for our Engine Shop. You will diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks, mentoring teammates and leading projects as you grow your career.

You’ll work with some of the industry’s best technicians, stay current on OEM bulletins, and follow factory procedures to deliver quality workmanship. This role offers opportunities for professional growth within a sizable dealer network.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus).
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
  • ASE Certifications are a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including email, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the ability to learn dealership management and diagnostic software.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
  • Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings.
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to ensure repairs stay on schedule.
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
