Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is hiring a Diesel Engine Technician to diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks in our Engine Shop. You will mentor teammates, lead projects, and advance your career while delivering high-quality workmanship.

You will diagnose engines, perform rebuilds, complete preventative maintenance, and document findings. Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, plus teamwork and communication, are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of diesel diagnostic experience (10+ years preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (CDL is a plus)
  • Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred
  • ASE Certifications are a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency with email, MS Outlook, Word, Excel; ability to learn dealership management and diagnostic software
  • Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems
  • Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds
  • Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs
  • Accurately document repairs and diagnostic findings
  • Communicate with Parts and Service teams to keep repairs on schedule
  • Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards
  • Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices
  • Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed
