Job summary

Nextran Truck Centers is hiring a Diesel Engine Technician for our Engine Shop. Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and maintain medium- and heavy-duty trucks, mentoring teammates and leading projects as needed.

Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills are required plus the ability to work with a team and stay current with OEM bulletins. This on-site role offers growth within our network of dealerships.

Qualifications

• Diesel diagnostic experience (3–5+ years; 10+ years preferred).
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record (CDL a plus).
• Master Technician certifications in multiple areas preferred.
• ASE Certifications are a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Intermediate computer skills: email, Outlook, Word, Excel; can learn dealership management and diagnostic software.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair medium- and heavy-duty diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform complete engine and transmission rebuilds.
• Complete preventative maintenance and major mechanical repairs.
• Document repairs and diagnostic findings accurately.
• Communicate with Parts and Service teams to keep repairs on schedule.
• Identify additional maintenance or safety concerns for customers.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow manufacturer repair procedures and dealership standards.
• Stay current on OEM technical bulletins and industry best practices.
• Mentor apprentice technicians and help lead the team when needed.
