Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Social work, Psychology, or an equivalent degree.
• Master’s degree preferred but not required
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral.
• At least two years of related experience in victim services, trauma-informed programming, or experience working with immigrants or foreign-born individuals.
• Experience in or with victims or individuals in a confinement or custodial setting.
• At least two years of experience providing services to vulnerable populations.
• Understand situations that contribute to family/individual stress, problems and crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with needs, requests (on ICE Detainee Request Form or otherwise), and complaints from the detained noncitizen population regarding non-officer or immigration case related issues.
• Assist ERO officers with addressing noncitizen requests related to parent/child communication and/or child welfare involvement.
• Facilitate on-site support of disability accommodations, including coordinating followup with detention facilities upon submission of a Disability Accommodation Notification to ERO HQ.
• Assist ERO and detention facility staff to facilitate compliance with agency policies and detention standards; communicate with detained noncitizens on topics such as allegations of sexual abuse, pregnant noncitizens, and housing.
• Address ERO and detention facility staff questions about specific noncitizens, including available services.
• Provide noncitizen referrals to appropriate ERO and detention facility staff for care and follow-up (medical, mental health, chaplain, etc.).
• Support noncitizens with specialized needs; conduct wellness checks and follow-ups as requested by ERO Field Office or ERO HQ.
• Meet newly detained noncitizens to answer questions and provide orientation to CRC services.
• Support specialized housing units and programs for vulnerable populations (Transgender housing, Behavioral/Mental Health Units, Family Residential Centers, etc.).
• Provide language interpretation for facility and ERO staff.
• Provide general support to maintain safety and security of the detention facility.
• Assist ERO Field Office in removal planning for vulnerable noncitizens; develop Departure Plans.
• Assist ERO Field Office in release planning for vulnerable noncitizens; identify resources in the home country and U.S.
• Develop and maintain a national resource database for CRC and ERO use.
