Job summary

Lukos is seeking a Social Work / Custody and Removal Coordinator in Calexico, CA to assist ICE/ERO field staff in maintaining a safe detention environment and provide services to detained noncitizens.

The CRC will handle requests, accommodations, and referrals, support parent/child communications, and coordinate resources for medical, mental health, and welfare needs; travel may be involved for outreach and removal planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social work, Psychology, or an equivalent degree. Master’s degree or an equivalent advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, written and oral.
• At least two (2) years of related experience including serving victims, trauma-informed programming, or working with immigrants or foreign-born individuals.
• Experience in detention or custodial settings and with vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with detainee needs, requests, and complaints regarding non-officer or immigration case issues.
• Support ERO staff with parent/child communication and welfare involvement.
• Coordinate disability accommodations with detention facilities and follow-up with ERO HQ.
• Facilitate compliance discussions of agency policies and detention standards with detained noncitizens.
• Provide noncitizen referrals to ERO and detention facility staff for care and follow-up.
• Conduct wellness checks and follow-ups for vulnerable individuals as requested.
• Meet newly detained noncitizens to orient them to the facility and CRC services.
• Support housing units and programs for vulnerable populations (e.g., transgender housing, mental health units, reunification).
• Provide language interpretation for facility and ERO staff; assist with release planning and resource identification.
