Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee security and custody operations in a detention setting. You will supervise staff, ensure policy adherence, and coordinate records and reports to maintain safety and order.

The role requires at least one year as a detention officer and two years in supervisory work; college coursework in related fields is preferred. The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to advance within GEO Secured Services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required and college coursework is preferred.
• Experience as a detention officer plus supervisory experience is expected.
• Ability to manage staff, enforce policies and respond to incidents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of policies, procedures and regulations for custody, security and/or treatment of detainees/inmates.
• Respond to major unusual occurrences; provide prompt assistance to detainees/inmates in case of injury or distress.
• Promote an atmosphere conducive to positive behavior and staff relationships.
• Direct the work of other employees including hiring, training, evaluating performance and disciplinary actions.
• Assign and review post orders; ensure emergency procedures are in place and staff are trained.
• Review disciplinary matters and conduct inspections to ensure policy compliance.
• Provide guidance on situational problems; refer complex issues as needed.
• Prepare records and daily logs; support attainment of facility goals.
• Direct work and training of detainee/inmate staff; supervise in other areas if needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
