Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a Captain to act as shift commander, directing all security operations and inmate supervision on a shift. You will oversee staff, coordinate facility activities, and ensure safety while preparing records and reports.

You will also help implement policies for custody and security and supervise staff performance. This role requires strong leadership, prior corrections supervisory experience, and the ability to communicate clearly with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in a correctional setting, with supervisory responsibilities.
• Must meet the basic qualifications of a Corrections Officer.
• Strong communication and decision-making abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development and implementation of custody, security, and treatment policies and regulations.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with security, safety, sanitation, contraband, and other facility rules.
• Review disciplinary matters involving staff and inmates.
• Coordinate staffing for security supervisors and officers; assess staff effectiveness.
• Respond to unusual occurrences and emergencies.
• Supervise correctional officers; assign tasks and ensure procedures are followed.
• Support inmate programs and relate to facility activities.
• Draft policies, court defenses, and contract-related documents.
• Monitor daily logs and facility goals.
