Qualifications

• Minimum requirements must be met: high school diploma or equivalent.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience working in a correctional setting with supervisory capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises security/control activities and staff in an assigned area, coordinating detainee supervision and safety and preparing required records and reports.
• Directs work of other employees, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
• Develops and implements policies/procedures for custody, security and/or treatment of detainees.
• Responds to major incidents and provides prompt assistance for injury, illness or trauma.
• Reviews disciplinary matters and conducts inspections to ensure policy compliance.
• Maintains logs and prepares records/reports as assigned.
