Job summary

The GEO Group, a global leader in evidenced-based rehabilitation, seeks a Captain to lead security operations on a shift basis. You will supervise staff, direct detainee safety, and ensure accurate documentation and reporting.

Role requires strong leadership, experience in correctional settings, and the ability to implement policies. The position is on-site and part of GEO Secured Services. Competitive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school graduate or equivalent; related college courses highly desirable.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a correctional/detention setting, supervisory experience preferred.
• Must be emotionally stable, adaptable, and empathetic to detainees.
• Ability to communicate with diverse personalities and interpret complex instructions.
• Must possess an active, valid driver's license and be 21+ years old.
• Must be a United States Citizen, capable of meeting security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Direct security and control operations as shift commander.
• Oversee staff, prepare records and reports, and coordinate facility security.
• Develop and implement custody, security, and treatment policies and procedures.
• Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations.
• Review disciplinary matters involving staff and detainees; coordinate staffing needs.
• Provide supervision to detention officers; assign duties and ensure proper training.
• Support inmate programs and facilitate communication with facility units.
• Write policies, courtroom defenses, and contract-related documents.
• Monitor daily logs and facility goals; respond to unusual incidents.
