Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute in Wisconsin seeks a transportation supervisor to support the manager/director in supervising delivery and backhaul activities, training and supervising department associates, ensuring compliance with government regulations and promoting safety.

The role includes supervising daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance (DOT/OSHA), managing schedules and labor hours, coordinating repairs, and collaborating with warehouse and customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; further education preferred for advancement.
• 2–4 years of transportation experience or training is expected.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily work and safety of transportation associates.
• Ensure compliance with DOT/OSHA and other regulations; maintain electronic logs.
• Oversee labor hours and consumables within budget.
• Prepare work schedules including extra days and shifts as needed.
• Assist with training of new associates and cross-training of existing staff.
• Direct the selection and use of company assets in delivery operations.
• Coordinate required repairs with relevant departments.
• Review delivery productivity and suggest efficiency improvements.
• Enforce company policies and procedures including food safety and regulatory rules.
• Communicate with warehouse and customer service to resolve issues.
• Visit customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.
• Maintain associate morale through regular meetings and open communication.
• Work with safety manager on training, observations and investigations.
• Handle staff selection, development, and performance reviews.
