Job summary

North American Transportation Management Institute is seeking a Transportation Supervisor to support the manager/director in supervising delivery and backhaul activities. The role includes training staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting safety within the department.

Responsibilities cover supervising daily operations, OSHA/DOT compliance, budget adherence, scheduling, training, asset utilization, and collaboration with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve issues.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• 2-4 years of transportation experience and/or training.
• Class A CDL preferred but not required.
• DOT regulations training preferred.
• Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations and SOPs; strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervises daily work and safety of transportation associates, including SOPs and adherence to food safety standards.
• Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations (DOT, OSHA, etc.) and accurate electronic logs.
• Oversees labor hours and consumable supplies within budget.
• Prepares work schedules and shifts as needed.
• Assists with training of new associates and cross-training existing staff.
• Directs proper selection and use of company assets to support delivery.
• Coordinates required repairs with the proper departments.
• Reviews delivery productivity and reports, suggests efficiency improvements and cost reductions.
• Interprets and enforces company policies and procedures, including food safety and record keeping.
• Communicates with warehouse and customer service teams to resolve customer or delivery issues.
• Visits customer locations to address delivery challenges.
• Maintains positive associate relations through regular meetings and open communication.
• Supports safety manager with training, observations, and accident investigations to determine root causes.
• Performs staff recruitment, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations as needed.
• Maintains regular attendance and works outside normal hours as required.
