Job summary

Farmers Home Furniture in Homosassa Springs, FL seeks a Collections Specialist to locate, notify, and secure payments from delinquent accounts. You will text/mail notices, discuss terms, and document all communications while maintaining a cash drawer and assisting on the sales floor.

Travel to customers’ homes as needed, prepare paperwork for legal action when required, and help with repossessions under Store Manager approval. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; six months experience in payment collections or general office procedures; or any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
• Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.
• Data Utilization: ability to review, categorize, prioritize, and analyze data.
• Human Interaction: ability to provide guidance, assistance, and interpretation regarding procedures and standards.
• Equipment, Machinery, tools, and Materials Utilization: operate, maneuver, and control required equipment.
• Verbal Aptitude: use a wide variety of reference and advisory data.
• Mathematical Aptitude: perform basic math and interpret graphs.
• Functional Reasoning: carry out instructions with some independent judgment.
• Situational Reasoning: exercise judgment in evaluating information against criteria.

Responsibilities

• Sends text messages, mails form letters and/or late charge notices to customers to encourage payment of delinquent accounts.
• Confers with customers by text or telephone attempting to determine reason for overdue payment and review terms.
• Documents all correspondence and attempted correspondence with customers concerning accounts.
• Receives payments and posts amount paid to customer’s account.
• Maintains and balances their assigned cash drawer and follows security procedures.
• Travels to customers’ homes as required to collect on late payments; assists with repossessions with Store Manager approval.
• Prepares paperwork prior to legal action for severely delinquent accounts.
• Initiates credit investigations by telephone for new credit account applicants under direction of Credit Manager.
• Logs details of work activities on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Logs customer service requests into PQA and schedules merchandise repairs for customers.
• Assist customers on the sales floor as assigned by management; greeting customers, demonstrating products, and updating CRM.
