Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead program execution nationwide for AMER DCCD Pre-Construction, coordinating Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence and other partners. The role demands extensive construction experience and strong bid/contract management for data center infrastructure.

This position will influence scheduling, budgeting and constructability across multiple campuses, with 25% travel and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction or project management experience.
• Experience negotiating contracts and managing vendors.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering principles for data centers.
• Familiarity with Life Safety and building codes (NFPA/NEC/OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Possess a foundational knowledge of critical data center equipment (generators, UPS, switchgear, transformers, power feeders & busduct, chillers, plumbing, fire detection/suppression).
• Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes and drive improvements in baseline.
• Perform build phasing evaluations across civil, structural, electrical fields for sites.
• Define site requirements that impact schedule, cost, delivery and integration.
• Conduct negotiations with land sellers, developers, GCs; evaluate bids and documents.
• Manage GC and third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during design.
• Define construction scopes and issue RFPs to GCs; review bids/milestones.
• Support contracting documents issuance (Work Orders, POs, Work Letters).
• Develop handoff project documentation to Construction Manager partners.
• Share lessons learned to improve the program.
• Travel up to 25%.
