Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in the United States (Herndon, VA) seeks a Pre-Construction Manager to define and scope construction contracts for new data center campuses. You will liaison across Real Estate, Design-Engineering, Due Diligence, Construction Management, and Procurement to support planning, design, budgeting, and constructability guidance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of vendor management experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years of construction or project management experience
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
• 3+ years of data center or mission critical facilities experience
• 5+ years of construction or project management experience
• Experience in vendor negotiation and management for data center or upgrade construction contracts

Responsibilities

• Define construction scope for RFPs to GCs and review bid summaries, schedules, pricing
• Assist in evaluating bids, proposals, and scoping documents with detail and accuracy
• Negotiate with general contractors and manage GC vendors delivering preconstruction services
• Support crafting contracting documents such as Work Orders and Purchase Orders
• Develop contract project handoff documentation for Construction Manager partners
• Capture and share lessons learned to drive program-wide improvements
• Travel up to 25% of the time
• Assist in contract phasing evaluations
• Review bid summaries, schedules and milestones, pricing at subcontractor level bid evaluations
