Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead program execution for AMER West Data Center Construction, coordinating Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence, and partner teams from planning through design development.

The role will forecast schedules, manage construction budgets, and provide constructability guidance across multiple campuses. Extensive construction experience and travel up to 25% are required to drive successful site delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure
• Knowledge of critical data center equipment
• Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA
• Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations, with a deep understanding of electrical and mechanical data center infrastructure
• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems

Responsibilities

• Foundational knowledge of critical data center equipment (Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Transformers, etc.).
• Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes and drive improvements in baseline.
• Perform build phasing evaluations in civil, structural, electrical fields for potential sites.
• Determine and communicate site requirements that could impact schedule, cost, delivery of the work.
• Conduct negotiations with land sellers, developers, GCs and evaluate bids, proposals, and scoping documents.
• Manage GC and other third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during design.
• Define construction scopes and issue RFPs to General Contractors; review bid summaries and milestones.
