Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead planning and budgeting for new data center sites nationwide.

You will serve as the primary liaison between Real Estate, Design Engineering, Due Diligence, and partner teams from initial planning through design to provide schedule forecasting and constructability guidance. The role requires extensive practical construction experience with bidding, contracting, and documents, plus travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
• Experience in MS Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
• Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Responsibilities

• Foundational knowledge of critical data center equipment (Generators, UPS, Switchgear, Transformers, etc.).
• Perform constructability reviews of critical scopes and drive improvements in baseline.
• Perform build phasing evaluations in civil, structural, electrical fields for potential sites.
• Determine and communicate site requirements impacting schedule, cost, delivery and integration.
• Conduct negotiations with land sellers, developers, general contractors and evaluate bids.
• Manage GC and other third-party vendors delivering preconstruction services during design.
• Define construction scopes and issue RFQs to General Contractors; review bid summaries.
• Support issuance of contracting documents (Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Work Letters).
• Develop handoff project documentation to Construction Manager partners.
• Collect, evaluate, and share lessons learned to direct teams for continuous improvement.
• Ability to travel 25% of the time.
