Job summary

QTS in Virginia is seeking a Critical Operations Technician I to install, repair, and maintain IT, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing/piping equipment inside and outside the data center. You will monitor systems, run tests, and assist customers on the Data Center floor, both in person and by phone.

This on-site role supports a 24/7/365 environment with extensive documentation, ticketing, and escalation to systems engineers.

• Proficiency with MS Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of IT, electrical and mechanical equipment and operating systems to daily tasks.
• Lead and perform preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment; record readings and adjust as needed.
• Provide remote hands and eyes services for customers.
• Install and configure customer equipment according to provisioning documentation.
• Install and repair IT, mechanical and electrical equipment; assist teammates with major repairs.
• Process work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance and update tickets.
• Create and update tickets for customer calls and alerts in the ticketing system.
• Operate and monitor critical and non‑critical system equipment to ensure safe operation.
• Respond to building emergencies and customer requests.
• Follow Change Management for maintenance approvals and documentation.
