Job summary

QTS Data Centers is seeking a Critical Operations Technician I to install, repair, and maintain IT, electrical and mechanical equipment in a 24x7 data center. You will monitor building systems, perform tests, and assist customers on the data center floor both in person and by phone.

The role requires on-site presence in a fast-paced environment and involves interacting with systems engineers for resolutions, ticketing, and escalation as needed. Prior data center or NOC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of technical training or equivalent experience.
• Background in IT, electrical and/or mechanical disciplines.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
• Data center environment or NOC experience preferred.
• Certifications such as BOD OEM, A+, Network+, BICSI Installer I preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies learning and company policies to IT, electrical and mechanical equipment tasks.
• Leads and performs preventive maintenance on mechanical and electrical equipment; records readings and adjusts as needed.
• Provide remote hands and eyes services for customers.
• Install and configure IT hardware and related components as documented by provisioning docs.
• Install and repair IT, mechanical, and electrical equipment and assist team during major repairs.
• Process work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance and coordinate tools/equipment with supervisor.
• Create/update tickets for customer calls, data center facilities, networks, or systems alerts.
• Operate and monitor critical and non-critical system equipment for safe operation.
• Respond to building emergencies and customer requests.
• Comply with safe storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Use Change Management to obtain approvals and complete maintenance with proper documentation.
