Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement, recognition, feedback, coaching, and performance management across a span of care. The role will oversee Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations and financial performance including staffing, scheduling, safety and customer service.

The position requests a Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 4+ years in retail or customer service, and a proven leadership track record.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members for clear direction.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to inform decisions.
• Experience leading teams in a safety-conscious environment.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership development.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, aiming to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and procedures.
• Directs team leads and assigns daily work and training needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
