Job summary

Meijer is hiring an Area Leader to drive engagement, coaching, and performance across the span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, oversee staffing, scheduling and safety while managing area operations and P&L to maximize sales and productivity.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 4+ years in retail or customer service, and proven leadership. You will uphold Meijer’s culture across multi-state operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Proactive/creative thinking applied to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer/community needs.
• Strong business acumen.
• Innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure effective onboarding, training and development.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Engages in candid discussions to promote growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, driving budget adherence and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store condition.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders to assign daily tasks and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
