Job summary

Columbus Technical College seeks a part-time Culinary Arts instructor to prepare lesson plans for classroom and hands-on labs. The role requires strong oral and written communication, adherence to safety procedures, and effective testing and grading.

Travel may be required across service areas and occasional on/off campus teaching. This position is part-time/exempt with responsibilities in curriculum development, recruitment support, and student orientation.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Culinary Arts or closely related field with 3 years of related culinary experience.
• Associate Degree in Culinary Arts or closely related field with 1–2 years of related culinary experience.
• Current SERV Safe Certification.
• Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Preferred: experience teaching in post-secondary education.
• Preferred: experience as a baking/pastry chef.

Responsibilities

• Delivers effective individualized program and instruction to class members.
• Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures.
• Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses.
• Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other course work.
• Monitors use of and maintains supplies, equipment and facilities for the program.
• Assists with recruiting and marketing activities.
• Assists with registration and orientation functions.
• Participates in committee meetings relating to curriculum development and college activities.
• Assists with design and execution of special events and projects.
• Demonstrates commitment, trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
