Job summary

Columbus Technical College seeks a part-time adjunct instructor for the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking Department. You will prepare lesson plans, evaluate student progress, advise students, and attend faculty development as needed.

This exempt role may require teaching high school students and travel within the service area. You will instruct in Carpentry/Cabinetmaking, align with state standards, request and manage supplies, and maintain documentation.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Carpentry/Cabinetmaking or related field from an accredited college or technical institution.
• Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in Carpentry/Cabinetmaking skills.
• Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals and objectives.
• Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Request and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment, and prepare budget requests.
• Develop teaching methods and maintain documentation.
• Meet with students, staff and other educators to discuss instructional programs.
• Ensure safety and security requirements are met in training areas.
• Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Maintain program certification requirements as appropriate.
• Demonstrate strong time management and organization skills.
• Communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
• Utilize basic computer skills (Word, Excel).
• Perform other duties as assigned.
