Job summary

BRC seeks a Community Technician to provide a stable presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting them through crisis, transition, and daily needs. You’ll monitor, de-escalate, document, and coordinate safety while upholding dignity and trauma-informed care.

The role emphasizes empathy, calm decision‑making, and collaboration with a mission-driven team. On-site shifts include mornings, evenings, and overnights with mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Strong communication skills and empathy are essential.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
