BRC is seeking a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting them during crises and transitions.

The role involves maintaining a safe residential environment, applying trauma-informed care, and documenting incidents, with training provided and overtime mandatory.

This hands-on position offers opportunities for growth into case management and leadership through structured training and certifications.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.
  • Preferred: experience with homelessness, mental health, or substance use populations.
  • Security Guard license, Food Handler Certificate, or similar certifications.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
