Job summary

BRC seeks a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. You’ll perform rounds, maintain safety, and respond to crises with calm, empathy, and professional boundaries.

No prior shelter experience required; training provided for certifications (First Aid/CPR, Narcan, Fire Safety). This frontline role offers growth toward case management and leadership in a mission-driven team. Shifts include mornings, evenings, and overnights.

Qualifications

  • Experience in crisis or social service settings is desirable but not required.
  • Ability to follow protocols and document incidents clearly.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
  • Related duties as assigned.
