Job summary

BRC is seeking a Community Technician in New York for a full-time, 37.5-hour-per-week role within a 24/7 program with mandatory overtime. The position focuses on providing a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, delivering front-line support in crisis moments, and maintaining a safe residential environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep
