Job summary

BRC in New York is seeking a Community Technician to provide a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, especially during moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

This full-time role offers trauma-informed care training, tuition assistance, and benefits starting Day One. You will work a 37.5-hour week with mandatory overtime and opportunities to advance into leadership tracks within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Excellent communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid, Narcan, Fire Safety Guard).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
