Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) seeks a Community Technician to maintain a safe, respectful residential environment while supporting individuals experiencing homelessness. This frontline role emphasizes crisis response, de-escalation, and compassionate service across day and overnight shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Narcan, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
