Job summary

Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company and supplier to plumbing and HVAC professionals, seeks a knowledgeable Counter Sales Associate to be a trusted advisor. You’ll help customers select products, upsell where appropriate, and maintain a high-standard counter environment.

The schedule is Monday–Friday 8am–5pm with one Saturday (8am–12pm) per month. Benefits include health, dental, vision, PTO, life insurance, 401(k) with match, and additional well-being programs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in customer service or sales.
• 1 year experience in plumbing/HVAC or related industry knowledge preferred.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Sales mindset with ability to meet goals, build relationships, and influence purchasing decisions.
• Strong communication skills for consultative selling and customer engagement.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers proactively at the counter, on the phone, and via email to understand needs and recommend solutions.
• Serve as a product expert by applying knowledge of plumbing, HVAC and related products to guide customer decisions.
• Drive sales growth by upselling, cross-selling, and promoting strategic products and programs.
• Utilize catalogs, computer systems, and manufacturer databases to locate parts and provide accurate, timely information.
• Process transactions efficiently while ensuring accuracy and a positive customer experience.
• Collaborate with Outside Sales Associates to support account growth and seamless service.
• Manage special orders and follow up on order status, back-orders, and delivery timelines.
• Maintain a professional, organized counter environment reflecting commitment to quality and service.
• Assist with inventory management, cycle counts, and stock organization.
