Job summary

Ahold Delhaize USA is seeking a Project Manager I to lead store construction, expansion, and remodel projects from pre-construction through warranty. You will oversee schedules, budgets, bidding, and contractor management for Food Lion-contracted work while coordinating with internal teams.

The role requires 80% travel (Mon-Thur) with a remote office day on Friday and authorization to work in the United States. Bachelor's degree and 5–7 years of construction experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent.
• 5-7 years of experience in construction industry.
• Knowledge of architectural designs/engineering concepts and processes.
• Ability to lead projects through influence and drive accountability across contractors, developers/landlords, vendors and cross-functional partners.
• Practical construction technology and methods.
• Ability to develop, manage, and execute complex phased planning and construction schedules.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with risk recognition and resolution.
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent construction projects in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed environment.
• Experience with ground-up/new store construction, remodels, expansions and/or developer/landlord-built projects preferred.
• Ability to travel weekly.
• Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Manage the bidding and awarding processes related to GC's, CM's, subcontractors and suppliers for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Coordinate bid document compilation, RFQ packaging, and ensure accurate, timely submissions.
• Manage preparation of contracts, purchase orders, and payment of requisitions and invoices for Food Lion-contracted work.
• Oversee Construction Change Authorization/Change Order processes; ensure timely payments to vendors.
• Manage bid, contract and requisition approval processes for Food Lion-contracted projects.
• Oversee redline reviews of ARCH/MEP plans for accuracy and compliance with standards and codes.
• Provide value engineering feedback to Engineering on assigned projects.
• Develop cost-saving ideas and construction means/methods to save time and money.
• Plan new store, expansion, remodel projects, and department rollouts with phase plans and milestones.
• Coordinate with Purchasing, Refrigeration, Real Estate, Preconstruction/A&E, Operations and stakeholders on schedules and handoffs.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure timely completion per prototype standards and lease requirements.
• Monitor developer/landlord-built projects for performance against plans and milestones; escalate issues.
• Issue complete period budget reports to keep Senior Management informed of financial status.
