Layton Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers in ensuring installed work meets plans and specifications. The role is on-site with relocation to project locations nationwide, and requires close collaboration with superintendents, architects, and subcontractors.

The position emphasizes reviewing plans, coordinating meetings, preparing progress reports, and helping with bidding and scope development.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor or comparable internship.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
• Flexibility to modify plans to meet goals.
• Cooperation: Works well with others to achieve goals.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Learning ability to quickly acquire new job-related information.
• Ability to understand OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Integrity and adherence to ethics and company policies.
• Problem solving: handles practical problems with limited standardization.
• Scheduling programs knowledge preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Familiarize with project plans and specifications; review shop drawings and submittals.
• Review plans for value analysis and constructability; communicate inconsistencies to architect.
• Propose labor and cost-saving methods for construction.
• Attend and take notes for project team meetings; distribute minutes.
• Publish weekly progress reports and coordinate information for construction.
• Update project schedules as needed.
• Assist in bidding and in developing scope of work for trade contractors.
• Collaborate with superintendent to prepare project schedule and milestones.
• Maintain logs of shop drawings, clarifications, change requests, proposals.
• Advise on procedures for concrete pours; inspect reinforcing.
• Coordinate slump and compaction testing to verify specs.
• Review field procedures and final installation for compliance.
• Perform work sampling to improve production efficiency.
• Comply with all safety policies and report unsafe activities.
