Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers in ensuring work aligns with plans and specs on assigned projects; this is an on-site role with relocation to project sites nationwide. Duties include reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with architects and subcontractors, preparing weekly reports and schedules, and assisting in bid scope development.

Requires a Bachelor’s in construction management (or related) and 1+ year GC experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience, preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; expresses ideas clearly in writing and speaking.
• Proficiency with Word and Excel; basic scheduling familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work installed meets plans and specifications.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for accuracy and feasibility.
• Communicates constructability concerns to the architect and team.
• Coordinates with superintendent on schedule milestones and shop drawing deadlines.
• Publishes weekly progress reports and distributes meeting notes.
• Assists in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors.
